The main innovation of the Quantum mask is that, in addition to improving downward vision, it prevents fogging by internally thermoregulating the warm moist air coming out of the nose. This air is diverted by a system of membranes set into the molding around the eyes and nose, deflecting the flow towards the silicone skirt rather than the lenses.
Despite the presence of small internal membranes deflecting the airflow and external heat exchangers, the Quantum mask body is still compact and represents the most advanced design offered in the underwater vision market.
The lenses are not chemically treated and it should be remembered that when the mask is new, as is the case with all masks, it is recommended that the lenses be thoroughly cleaned with toothpaste or dishwashing liquid, or simply use a lighter to burn off any volatiles. materials and dust that may have settled on the glass. It is also always a good idea to use saliva as a surfactant before each dive.
The patented membrane surrounding the inner nose pocket (1) and the two inner eye pockets (2) acts as a barrier, trapping any moisture that escapes involuntarily from the diver's nose when breathing through the mouth. As a result, not only is the moisture drawn away from the lenses, preventing fogging, but also reducing the need to compensate for pressure. To further improve the anti-fogging effect, Cressi suggests spraying a little anti-fog solution or applying a little saliva to the inside of the lenses and then rinsing them with water when first using the dive mask.
The outer part of the skirt contains a cooling system composed of two small heat exchangers that act as radiators (3).Thanks to this system, the temperature inside the mask drops and approaches the outside temperature, and moisture droplets are trapped before the air reaches the lenses, preventing them from fogging.
