PT-1 is a sensitive, accent magnetometer. It works equally well on land or in fresh or salt water. The PT-1 has been specifically designed to locate and track cast iron and steel piping, but will also detect all non-ferrous metals buried under any material, including concrete, without loss of detection range.

ThePT-1 measures changes in the magnetic field using a probe with a sensor. Iron and steel objects create distortions in the earth's magnetic field and the PT-1 detects these changes. The larger the object, the greater the change in the field. The PT-1 displays these changes with both an audible signal and a visual indication.

The PT-1 Pipe Tracker is powered by rechargeable batteries that last for 15 hours on a single charge. The battery status is displayed and a low battery indicator flashes when the batteries need to be recharged. ThePT-1 comes with all the equipment needed to use the detector on land, or for diving to depths of more than 60 meters. The standard package includes the PT-1, underwater and terrestrial headsets, and AC and DC battery chargers.
